Sigiriya - Elephant Corridor Lodge

After the tea plantations, the cool mountains, we sat in traffic in Kandy for an hour. We were headed for a splurge resort. It seemed a good deal on Agoda website, but I had inadvertently put in just one person, so we had to pay extra for the extra breakfasts - $66. For that you'd think the breakfast would be particularly good. Not so. BUT the room was fabulous and we were surrounded by 58 hectares of landscaping and jungle.

I can't resist photos of the room, sitting area, patio - the view was stunning, and the pool, which took 10 minutes to walk to, and which we had all to ourselves. We only ever saw 4 sets of other guests. How do they make any money? Certainly not from their restaurant, which was horrible. We only ate there the first night. I ordered fish curry, which came with the heap of plain rice, small bowl of fish curry, daal curry and that was it. The fish had been so overlooked it was in edible. I forget what Mark had, but it was equally bad. But the room was lovely....
